New England Apple Crumble

This is an easy recipe that I always serve when I have people over with food allergies. There are no nuts or eggs. I have used flour substitutions when needed. In addition, this dessert looks fantastic in my vintage footed dessert bowls!

  •  6 Baking Apples
  • 1/4 Cup Water
  • 2 Tablespoons of Maple Syrup
  • 3/4 Cup of Flour
  • 1/2 Cup Sugar
  • 1 Teaspoon Cinnamon
  • 1/4 Teaspoon Nutmeg
  • 1/4 Teaspoon Salt
  • 1/2 Cup Butter

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees and lightly butter a large baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl mix together flour, sugar, cinnamon, salt and nutmeg with a whisk.
  3. Using a pastry cutter, cut the cold butter into the flour mixture.
  4. Peel and Slice your baking apples and place in a large bowl.
  5. Pour the water and maple syrup over the top of the apples and mix until coated.
  6. Place apples in a large baking dish.

  8. Bake 35 to 40 minutes until top is golden brown.
  9. Serve with Ice cream or whipped cream if you can afford the calories!
